COVID-19 response for San Francisco
I was activated at the City’s Emergency Operations Center as the sole content designer, owning all COVID-19 updates on SF.gov. I wrote all public health guidance to Grade 6 reading level. Our efforts to clearly communicate public health orders and other aspects of the City’s pandemic response helped SF achieve the lowest COVID-19 death rate of any major city in the country. Wrote San Francisco’s first online-only permit application. Worked closely with department staff to ensure the content fulfilled legal requirements while being comprehensible and in plain language at middle school readability. Read more...

Los Angeles Dept of Building & Safety
I reorganized content for a 15-year-old city department site to clarify department services. I also redesigned and developed the content management system to optimize maintenance. The new website improved findability by 30%, and increased usage by 20%. The project was launched in less than one year. Read more...

I redesigned the UI for a data analytics dashboard and analytics tool, working directly with cofounders and developers. The interface had to be efficient for experienced data scientists, while being flexible enough for data sets of various types to be shared. Read more...

I designed and developed a website to accommodate the expanding product line of Flying Eyes sunglasses, making it both consumer and client-friendly. The new site better matched the adventuring outlook of the brand, and increased average monthly sales by 45%. Read more...

Southern California AP Institute website
I redesigned and overhauled the 10-year-old code for the Southern California AP Institute website, switching from a table layout to one controlled by CSS. Registration in the following year increased by 20%. The visual redesign bolstered the outward credibility of the organization, shown by a 20% immediate increase in registrations and the opening of new class sections to accommodate additional demand.
