World IA Day Los Angeles 2017

I had the honor and privilege of being “official live-tweeter” of the @WIADLA Twitter handle on World Information Architecture Day 2017. Bwahaha, I have the power! Honestly, I would have done it like normal, from my own account, but it’s nice to do it in an official capacity too. 🙂 Made it possible to free up another person to handle Twitter raffles while I sat next to the live feed folks to monitor its status. Also, yay, a table to use my iPad on!

I think it’s amazing that information architecture has its own global day of awareness, and that it’s growing every year! I came into user experience design from an interest in information architecture, after all.

Los Angeles’s intrepid organizer Grace Lau really went above and beyond to gather a group of eager volunteers for the day! Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever seen more productivity tools used at once for one single event.

On to the tweets!

Despite my brain needing a break after all that tweeting, I was enticed into an “afterparty” with promises of free food, and the fact that it was at a cafe and not a bar. Best idea ever – Funnel Mill Cafe had exquisite tea and hors d’oeuvres, and oh, super comfy couches! Great way to catch up with old friends and make new ones!
