Affordable housing made easier – the DAHLIA Housing Portal at Civic Hack Night

This so happened to be the first civic tech presentation at Code for San Francisco. And what do you know, it happened to involved the very department I’m working for! (For the record, we pronounce it “moh-see-dee” because “The Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development” is just too darned long!)

This was a treat for all involved, even myself. Yes, I know the basics of how DAHLIA works because I’m working on the MOHCD’s website. But seeing how it came about makes it obvious why I’m having such an easy time proposing user-centered processes. MOHCD was clearly ready to adopt some bona fide user experience tactics for a while. And now they finally have the bandwidth to do what they’ve been dreaming of!
